And...They're off and running!

That was the race announcer's call heard by 23 very excited SYC members as they cheered on their favorite harness teams at the Nauti-Friday @ The Homestretch, Elements Casino-Surrey, event on March 28.

As the photos show, many of us enjoyed the extensive and delicious buffet (and beverages) offered by The Homestretch, while others opted for more traditional "takeaway" foods from Foodies in the main casino. Everyone had a great time, with some cashing in a winning race ticket or two! Others also tested their luck in the casino. A few of them came away winners but, alas, some did not. Richard Sturgill and Meredith Goodman, the scheduled hosts, were snowed in and not able to attend. But, Mel Kolstad, once again, rose to the occasion and filled in on a moments notice. Mel even introduced a fun "mixer" activity, enabling people to get to know one another a bit more.

Each table group discussed and picked a topic from a list of questions provided by Mel. Then, one person from the table presented their "answer" to the rest of the assembly. David Jewkes, Jeff Lee, Paul Manzi, Geoff Stevenson, and Ken Stiver were the "lucky" presenters. By all accounts, their "answers" made for some entertaining stories.
