| Come on, Pig... Stay out of my Garden... Or Else!!!
And the Rest is History on San Juan Island!
Friday July 31st will kick off On The Hook - Cruise #7 to San Juan Island. Garrison Bay is where we plan to drop anchor and raft up next to our SYC friends, enjoying each other's company in this beautiful setting.
This event does not have a host at this time, so any agenda that takes place will be created by those of you who participate. Spontaneity and creativity are what make boaters shine!
The theme of this cruise will be The Great Pig War of 1859. Garrison Bay is the home of English Camp, occupied by British soldiers during the war in the 1860's, sent there to protect British interests after American farmer Lyman Cutler shot and killed a pig belonging to Charles Griffin, an Irishman working for Hudson's Bay Company. No lives were lost other than That Stupid Pig!
The big plans for this cruise will be boat oriented and "ruffing it" on the water, typical for boats when anchored out and rafting. This cruise will likely be one where appy night and possibly other meals are aboard a member's boat, depending on participation numbers. There are also picnic tables and a large field area onshore in English Camp that can accommodate the group if needed. The English Camp area is easily accessed by use of the dinghy dock, which can also accommodate those of you with dogs.
If Garrison Bay is too full there is usually plenty of space in adjoining Westcott Bay, so we will have a place for this event either way. This cruise is yours to develop, so have fun with it... and take pictures to share with SYC!
