Hello Semiahmoo Yacht Club Members attending the Luau Cruise to Port Browning on North Pender Island BC. July 17 -19.

I wanted to take a moment to share a few reminders, some suggested items to bring along, and what to expect for the Luau weekend.

Check with border customs.
  • Please ensure all your necessary documentation is in order for you and your pets. Check with border customs on what items can be brought into Canada. The Luau dinner is the only meal being provided by SYC for the weekend. There is a full-service grocery store, coffee shop and other stores in the Village, just a 10 minute walk from the marina. Most needed foods can be purchased there if you prefer. The restaurant at the marina is also an excellent place to grab a few meals as well. There is a winery that can be reached by obtaining island transportation and also a cider house that can be reached by tender. Check with other members that will be visiting these locations during our stay for details. Remember your Debit/Credit cards for purchases at the local businesses.
Fill your boats water tanks.
  • The Port Browning Marina does NOT have dockside water available. There is only one spigot near the bottom of the ramp by the marina office to fill portable containers.
Appie night Friday July 17, 5:30 PM.
  • Please bring a heavy appetizer to share
  • Bring your own dishes, utensils and beverage of choice
  • There will be free raffle items
  • The Bocce Ball teams will be selected and the first round tournament brackets will be filled.
Bocce Ball Tournament Saturday July 18, 9:00 AM.
  • The Bocce Ball tournament is fun for everyone. It does not matter your skill level or if you have even played before at all. The object of the game is to score points for your team by getting your team's Bocce balls closest to the white ball. The non regulation quirky SYC Bocce Ball courts will humble even the most skilled players. This keeps the game play interesting and fun for everyone. Don't think you need to know how to play this game to get your name on the trophy, this game is truly for everyone to take part in and enjoy. If you are on the fence please just jump in and agree to play you will not regret it. The following are suggested items to have during the games.
  • Please wear your SYC 45th Anniversary T-Shirts for the Bocce Ball tournament if you have one.
  • Bocce Ball set if you have one. There are currently enough members for potentially 10 teams and 6 courts. the club has 2 sets and a few members are brining sets as well. The more Bocce Ball sets available the better.
  • Lawn chairs / camp chairs.
  • Sunscreen
  • Bottled water will be provided for all SYC members and guest during the tournament.
  • The tournament will take a break from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM to allow everyone time for lunch and to relax a bit. This is a great time to grab lunch at the restaurant.
Luau dinner July 18, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
  • Dishes and dining utensils will be provided during the Luau dinner. The Bistro Bar will be staffed during dinner for all beverages and cocktails. Please be prepared to pay for your own drinks and tips for the staffs service. If you would like to bring your own drinks, the Bistro has an $18.00 (CAD). corkage fee. SYC will not be paying for anyone's beverages or corkage fees.
  • During dinner there will be an opportunity to enter in the 50/50 cash drawing. Tickets for the 50/50 will be $5.00 (USD) per ticket or 5 tickets for $20.00 (USD)
  • There will also be gift baskets up for grabs. Each basket is valued at approximately $120.00 - $150.00 (USD). All members will receive one raffle ticket for a chance to take home one of the four gift baskets.
